Short description of the group and objectives:

This research group focuses on both the analysis of human behaviour and profiling. Criminological profiling is a criminal investigation technique which allows to predict the identitarian characteristics of a delinquent (criminological, socio demographic and those of personality) by analysing the psychological or behavioural evidence obtained from a multiplicity of information sources, especially in the crime scene and similar contexts.

From the standpoint of Criminology, Psychology and other sciences, the group delves into basic aspects of human behaviour in different age groups and populations.

Our goals:

  • To stress the practical applications of Psychology and Criminology for criminal research.
  • To unveil the link between observable behaviour of those involved in criminal investigation and their associated personality traits.
  • To develop processes of indirect profiling through observation and behaviour analysis.
  • To advance in profiling techniques of crime authors through inductive and deductive methodologies.
  • To perfect the technique of data retrieving regarding those subjects involved in crime investigation, especially if presenting vulnerabilities (minority, intellectual disability...).
  • Research of gender violence and cyber violence from an operational perspective.
  • Analyze situations of inequality based on gender.
