Brief description of the group and objectives

This research group, composed of specialists in psychometrics and assessment, focuses on research related to the design and adaptation of tests and instruments for psychological and educational assessment. In particular, it aims to 1) design tests using both traditional and novel procedures -for example, immersive virtual reality environments- and 2) carry out studies for the Spanish adaptation of neuropsychological, intelligence, personality and educational tests. In both cases, taking into account international standards for the construction and adaptation of tests and assessment instruments.

The long-term general purpose is to position this group as a reference in the country in the design and adaptation of psychological tests with scientific rigor, both for their use in research and in applied psychology and, in the short and medium term, to submit to competitive research calls, publish productions and articles in medium and high impact journals, present the work in national and international scientific meetings and make periodic presentations and university extension services.

In this way, this group sets the following medium- and long-term objectives:

General objectives:

  • Contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge of measurement and evaluation in psychology and education.
  • To position the PSY-METRIK group as a national reference in the design and adaptation of psychological tests with scientific rigor, both for use in research and in applied psychology.
  • Establish academic relationships with other European psychometrics research groups.
    Specific objectives:
  • To design psychological, neuropsychological and educational tests with a psychometric approach using novel technologies.
  • To make adaptations of psychological, neuropsychological and educational tests of foreign origin to the Spanish context.
  • To analyze the influence of the presentation formats -traditional and computerized- on the response to the tests.
  • To deepen the use of novel statistical techniques -network analysis, structural equation analysis- for the analysis of the psychometric properties of tests.
  • To contribute to the training of UDIMA students by encouraging their inclusion in the work of the PSY-METRIK group.
  • To provide advice to other UDIMA research groups that need to design or adapt tests.
